Tony Ilott

Cherwell District Councillor for Banbury Hardwick Ward
Banbury Town Councillor for Hardwick West Ward
Oxfordshire County Councillor for Banbury Hardwick Division

Tony has been a District Councillor in Hardwick for the past 8 years. He has a strong track record of delivering for local residents. Amongst other things, he worked to remove unauthorised traveller encampments on Hanwell Fields, secured the reinstatement of a regular bus service on the car estate, organised the re-planting and maintenance of trees along the old Oxfordshire Ironstone Railway and got a £40,000 solar system fitted to Hanwell Fields Community Centre. He has also been an ever-present campaigner supporting local efforts to reinstate an obstetric-led maternity service at the Horton Hospital. He has joined residents at rally’s for the cause, addressed the HOSC health scrutiny committee on various occasions and travelled with campaigners to attend the judicial hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. In 2017, Tony was appointed Cherwell District Council's Lead Member for Financial Management. He is committed to ensuring the Council keeps its share of the Council Tax as low as possible, whilst delivering vital projects including the landmark leisure extension to Castle Quay shopping centre in Banbury.

Tony's connection to Banbury started 15 years ago when he moved here to open a business in the town centre. Since then he has been actively involved in the local community; he is a Rotarian and a member of the Banbury Civic Society. In May 2017 he was also elected to represent Hardwick on Oxfordshire County Council. He is now the area's 'one-stop-shop Councillor', representing residents on all three tires of Local Government: Oxfordshire County Council, Cherwell District Council and Banbury Town Council.
