We are unashamedly proud to be British and proud of all the communities of North Oxfordshire.
We believe that celebrating our achievements, both ancient and modern, is vital for community cohesion and national unity. Strong communities don’t happen by accident. They are built on shared values, pride in place and a sense of belonging. We are the unyielding, positive standard bearer for unity and a bulwark against the politics of grievance and division.
Freedom, Personal Responsibility and Common Sense.
Conservatives trust the people. They do not need to be managed. Our governments should concentrate on providing the services we all pay for, not telling us how to live our lives.
We believe that the more government gets involved in your life, the less free you become. We need just enough government so that you are free make your own choices, your own mistakes, to be generous and compassionate.
We believe those who can work, must support themselves. This is what allows us to look after those who genuinely cannot.
Ambition and Aspiration.
Anyone with the ambition to work hard and improve their lot in life, and achieve their dreams will have our unlimited support.
This ambition is what leads to prosperity, which in the end pays for our government.
North Oxfordshire should be a place of opportunity where businesses grow, jobs are created and young people can build their future.
We reject the culture of low-expectations. Conservatives back aspiration and believe government should support success, not stand in its way.
Spending Wisely.
Government does not have its own money. It spends yours. Conservatives believe you should get what you’re paying for - excellent services, and clean, safe neighbourhoods.
We believe spending on anything else is wasteful. Every pound wasted is a pound taken from residents who are already under pressure. We will always seek to cut your taxes.
Conservatives believe sound finances are non-negotiable. A council that cannot manage money cannot be trusted to manage anything at all.
