North Oxfordshire Conservative Association (NOCA) covers the Parliamentary constituency of Banbury which encompasses the towns of Banbury and Bicester and the rural villages of North Oxfordshire. The constituency largely follows the boundary of Cherwell District Council with the exception of Kidlington which lies in the Oxford West and Abingdon constituency and some villages to the northeast of Oxford that are in the Henley constituency. The Boundary Commission has set out plans (to be ratified by Parliament) that will split the Banbury Constituency into two parts. The new Bicester and Woodstock constituency has a selected Prospective Parliamentary candidate, Rupert Harrison, and Victoria Prentis MP remains the selected candidate to fight the next General Election of Banbury and Chipping Norton. Areas formerly in the Witney constituency to the west of Banbury are being integrated to make voting areas of urban and rural balance.
The primary aim of the Association is to represent the Conservative cause in North Oxfordshire, working to secure the election of a Conservative MP, County Councillors, District Councillors, and Town Councillors in Banbury and Bicester to cover both town and country interests. We actively promote the great work of local elected representatives in their communities and help them to connect with you, their constituents.
As well as championing Conservative values and politics locally, we also promote Party membership while supporting our own active membership base. We have a great organisation, made up of all ages, for whom we organise a varied programme of social and political events. We are always delighted to welcome new members. Head to our ‘Get involved’ page to find out how you can sign up and join us!
The Banbury constituency was first established in 1554 and is currently represented by the Right Hon Victoria Prentis MP attending the Cabinet as the Attorney General. The constituency has been represented by a Conservative Member of Parliament since 1922.
In recent years, the Banbury constituency has become a thriving business hub using its excellent transportation links with Birmingham, Oxford, and London to attract world-leading business groups Prodrive, Barry Callebaut, Karchner and Siemens. Both Banbury and Bicester are expanding towns, surrounded by beautiful Oxfordshire villages including Deddington, Hook Norton - complete with celebrated brewery -, Fringford; inspiration for Lark Rise to Candleford and Cropredy, home of the Annual Cropredy Convention, it is a unique and diverse constituency right in the heart of England.
