Conservative Party Leader, Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP, visited Oxfordshire on Friday 25th April to speak to our prospective candidates for the county council elections along with party activists and supporters.

Speaking to candidates in Long Hanborough, Kemi said  “I’m always hopeful,” she said. “If people want change, they need to vote Conservative.”. She visited West Oxfordshire at the invitation of West Oxfordshire Conservative group deputy leader Liam Walker and, speaking about local councils including Oxfordshire, Kemi said they were spending money on “silly projects that don’t work”.

She highlighted the unused park and ride site in Eynsham which she said had been hampered by incompetent planning. Kemi added: “When I talk about better services and lower taxes, it's about making sure that we don't have wasteful projects like that.”. She also spoke about pot holes and reminded candidates and supporters that Conservative councils have fewer potholes and fix them quicker.

Kemi went on to explain that a vote for Reform in counties like Oxfordshire would see the Lib Dems stay in power. Kemi also spoke about the large amount of houses due to be built in the county saying : “We need to make sure that the infrastructure is in first and that means building reservoirs. Lib Dems voted against reservoir building when they were running councils. Now we see the results of that.”

County Council elections take place on 1st May.
