North Oxfordshire Conservative Federation are delighted to learn that The Rt Hon Victoria Prentis, the former MP for Banbury and Attorney General, has been been recognised in the former Prime Minister's resignation honours and will be elevated to the House of Lords.
Victoria Prentis served as the MP for her hometown of Banbury between 2015 and 2024. Victoria was Attorney General for England and Wales from October 2022 until the General Election in July. Before this, Victoria was the Minister of State at DWP (Minister for Work and Welfare) and DEFRA (Minister for Farming, Fisheries and Food). She was responsible for food during the pandemic, and steered through the legislation which made the greatest environmental changes for seventy years.
Called to the Bar in 1995, Victoria practised at the Treasury Solicitor’s Department (now the Government Legal Department) from 1997 to 2014. She took a number of cases to the Supreme Court and represented parties in public inquires. She has worked on many of the major judicial review cases of the last thirty years.
Victoria hopes to focus on her areas of interest, the law and the countryside, and to continue to support justice for Ukraine from the House of Lords.
