European Withdrawal Bill moves through Parliament

Last night the UK Parliament took a significant decision to back the will of the British people and vote for a bill which will give certainty and clarity ahead of the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union.

This essential step will transfer all existing EU legislation across into domestic UK law to ensure a smooth transition on the day after Brexit. Although there is more to do, this decision means we can move on with the negotiations with solid foundations and will help the Government avoid a black hole in the statute book, preventing disruption to business and citizens as Britain exits the EU.

Ayes: 326
No: 290

The European Withdrawal bill now moves onto its next Parliamentary stage.
